WESTLAND, MI / (August, 2024) International Building Products, Inc. (IBP) has received the green light for an Apprenticeship Program through the Michigan Department of Labor. This new competency-based apprenticeship program is for a Project Estimator. A newly registered apprentice will earn $15 from day one, ending at $17 and benefits within one year. Upon completion of the program, the apprentice will receive a certificate of completion issued by the Department of Labor (DOL).
In Michigan, there are over 18,000 active registered apprentices, with over 2,500 completing the program each year. Completers of apprenticeship programs in Michigan, earned an average wage of $33.69 just one year after completing an apprenticeship program. IBP Owner Chrissy Brown is excited to provide an opportunity for folks who are newly entering the workforce, may feel that college is not for them, or need a job and benefits right now.
“When I started my co-op program in high school, there wasn’t anyone in my immediate family who had a degree,” Brown says. “It’s a good opportunity when many people don’t have an opportunity. This can be a real stepping stone for someone with an open mind and is ready to work.”
